Dear Zindagi Movie Review

Dear Zindagi
Brilliant Unconventional Cinema

PLEASE NOTE : Dear Zindagi is not about Entertainment and is certainly not about the SRK. ‘Dear Zindagi’ is serious cinema, slow at times but the movie maintain its quality throughout.

Gauri Shinde hits the right chord with her 2nd directorial venture after ‘English Vinglish’ and makes you smile, weep and feel good about Zindagi.

What’s Good ?
Unconventional yet so close to reality
‘Dear Zindagi’ is a mirror image of life of thousands and not only in India but across the world. Further more, the way it is directed is superb. It brings out the right emotions out of you as a movie lover , further as an individual as well.

3.5 stars out of 5 to the Unconventional Direction and Storytelling

What’s Better ?
Alia Bhat
She keeps getting better with every movie. At times you may feel that she is OverActing, but as the movie progresses into the 2nd half, all seems justified, as that is what her character demanded. Overall, she is a treat to watch, especially in the 2nd half. Flawlessly portraying the role of a modern day young women fighting with the evils of her past and present.

4 out of 5 stars to Alia

What’s Best ?
Undoubtedly he is the ‘King Khan’. But mind it, he is not in his uni-dimensional self in this movie. And we feel, this is what brings out the best from him. Be it ‘Chak de India’, ‘Devdas’ or ‘Darr’, we adore the King Khan from such movies more than the masala hits like ‘Chennai Express’ or ‘Happy New Year.’ He is best for a reason and in ‘Dear Zindagi’ whenever he comes on-screen, he will surely bring a smile to your face. His presence on-screen is enough.

5 out of 5 to SRK

What’s bad ?
Pace of the movie
‘Dear Zindagi’ dips at times, especially in the first half. There are typical ‘Yawn-a-thon’ moments and definitely a scope of improvement with the length of the movie.
2.5 stars out of 5 to Screenplay and slowness

‘Dear Zindagi’ is a quality watch and has a HAPPY-FEEL to it. If you are looking for entertainment/masala bollywood then you would be Bored to Death. If serious cinema is your choice this weekend then you would come out of the movie hall smiling. Give it a try !!
