Weekend Guide | New Releases Round Up

Another weekend another plan. We are here to make your entertainment choices this weekend. What are latest offerings by Bollywood and Hollywood to our film viewers this Friday? The answer lies ahead.

Jazbaa is remake of a South-Korean film ‘Seven Days’. It marks the return of the Beauty Queen Aishwarya Rai on the silver screen post Motherhood. And she is paired with the fierce Irrfan, who is riding high on the success of last Friday’s Talvar. The film is directed by Sanjay Gupta who has in the past successfully adapted Reservoir Dogs(Kaante) and Oldboy (Zinda). He is known for his stylized camera work with tint hues that seem to be inspired by late director Tony Scott’s work. The film has Aishwarya playing a lawyer Anuradha Verma whose daughter is kidnapped and Irrfan is again playing a cop, delivering one liners. The film looks an interesting masala fare and should be worth the ticket money.

Post the success of Bahubali there is a slew of south Indian fantasy sagas being dubbed in Hindi. With last week’s dismal Puli the new film releasing this Friday is Rudhramadevi. The film is a historical story of one of the few ruling queens of India. The film is also releasing in 3D. It has an ensemble cast of Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj. The film is directed by Gunasekhar.

The Walk

The walk movie is based on the true French high-wire artist Philippe Petit’s rise to fame post his walk on the twin towers in 1974. The movie is directed by the ace director of movies like Forrest Gump, Cast Away and Flight, Robert Zemeckis. Zemeckis is known for pioneering the use the CGI into the narrative of live action films. He has won Academy Award for best director for Forrest Gump.

Sony Pictures has produced the movie. Joseph Gordon Levitt is playing the main lead as the French artist and is sporting a French accent. The movie also stars Ben Kingsley, Charlotte Le Bon, and Steve Valentine.

This movie will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats.

Pan is a fantasy saga that is touted as a prequel to the Peter Pan story. The film is directed by Joe Wright. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Garett Hedlund, Rooney Mara and Levi Miller. The film has superb CGI use and a lot that will attract the little ones. This film is also releasing in 3D.

Looks like that this week is a 3D feast for your eyes.
