A Forgettable Sequel |
In an attempt to cash in the surprising success of Force, the 2011 film, co-producer John Abraham and director Abhinay Deo (Delhi Belly fame), bring us a wannabe spy thriller Force 2 which just falls as flat as John’s acting chops.
Synopsis
RAW agents in China are getting killed one after another and hence to find out the inside man and bring him to justice Mumbai Police officer Yash teams up with RAW agent KK (Sonakshi Sinha). What begins is a never ending chase to catch the mole in Budapest with a half-hearted effort to pay tribute to the unsung RAW agents.
Story (1 *)
There isn’t much meat in the story, it is just a plot that is stretched to its limits and that makes it stale.
Direction (2 *)
The way the plot unfolds is pretty naïve. A theme that was meant to be a spy thriller Abhinay Deo tries hard but seems the effort is not put into weaving an interesting sequences rather the money is spent in the useless action pieces which alone cannot save the film.
Acting (2 *)
The characters are poorly etched with only a single dimension to both John and Sonakshi’s character. John is only used to show off his ripped body and there’s a little too much of it. Sonakshi is given a role which doesn’t justify her potential. Only Tahir Raj Bhasin who is again repeating himself as a clever antagonist as in Mardaani shows some spark, but that fizzles with countless repetitive scenes.
Verdict
It is only the action scenes that are the highlight of this film and does experiment a little in that department. Towards the end there’s even a sequence inspired by the First Person Movie Hardcore Henry. But is not enough to keep you hooker.
Do not waste your time on this one.
