Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 2 | Spoiler Free Review

So, there we are, standing at the Episode 2 of S7 of the GoT. Well, the things set in motion by a rather slow Episode 1 are coming to fruition here and we see explosions that we were expecting. And to be sure, very sure, in the true tradition of the GoT, we see heartbreaks, plans getting awry, characters losing out the plots right at the times when we are least expecting them.

This episode picks up speed after the last one and we see the councils in the Dragonstone, King’s Landing and Winterfell, all planning their side of things.
Khaleesi summons all her loyalists and all who want Lannistors dead join her too. We see Tyrion in action, well strategizing this time, and he is at his best!
As Khaleesi gets about the business of conquering Westeros, consolidating allies, carving out plans and taking stock of her team, Cersei is not sitting quite. In fact, in spite of the absence of any dragonry (well, coined by us, in tune with artillery) she would be posing serious threats to Danerys’ plans. Though outnumbered in terms of houses at her disposal, Cersei, true to her character, isn’t the one to back out and those who are loyal to her, will do more than their share!
One of the best scenes in comes in the form of lovemaking. Two of our loved characters who have been staring at each other all through, finally jump the boat. The scene is remarkable because of the passion, care and feelings it oozes off. This is very different from the various scenes in the series where you see sexual violence, sexual power plays and trade going to and fro and is empowering for all the hardships the two characters have seen in their life.
Arya sees some heartfelt reunions and is on an interesting journey. What dangers and situations she is going to see is anyone’s guess but this episode ensures that she is in thick of the plot. Samwell Tarly redeems himself in a very unexpected way and something we had predicted earlier and hoped for. Jon Snow faces a revolt and is upto something dangerous again, and this single particular decision would shape the show like nothing does. We are sensing a lot of interesting things happening in the North with this and it would be interesting to see what role Sansa has to play here.
Some expectedly unexpected(its GoT!) encounters which might leave you teary eyes and some grisly events which might put Pirates of Caribbean to shame, round up the episode for you. And since these events have rolled the ball and set crucial chain reactions in motion, it makes you long for the next episode, which alas, is yet another week away!
