Laws of men and nature favor survival of the fittest. Yet here stand the band of unlikeliest of survivors waiting for their destiny to unfold or rather we should say carving out their destiny! Third episode of the season 7 of Game of Thrones, while still quite languishing in terms of explosiveness we were expecting, was power packed. By the time it ended, we were definitely craving for more and counting hours instead of days for the next one!
There is so much happening all around, to all the characters that it is impossible to cover everything without giving away a lot. We are trying hard you see! Well, we are seeing some, for the lack of better words, ‘consolidation’ of characters since last episode which gets up big time in the latest one. Surprise attacks, outmaneuvering, long pending reunions and meetings, scheming and striking, everything all at once. Chickens have come home to roost and it’s out in the open who is where. While Cersei and Jamie make great advances throughout the episode, Danerys is in for a lot many troubles at her hand with things all around. In middle of all this, we see ‘the’ much awaited meeting and a brilliant exchange of dialogues, something that we had hoped for.
Tyrion reasserts himself as to why he is one of the fan favorites with some brilliant play of words and presence of mind. He is in for the long haul and rest assured, not going to die soon. Northerners up there are busy preparing for wars to come and we see Sansa and Lord Baylish in some eerie camaraderie. Sansa is coming up as a major contender for leadership and would definitely serve a greater role. While we would love to see her strangle Lord Baylish, apparently he won’t depart before doing some considerable damage, the reason for which he remains intact. Euron Greyjoy, who was slated to play larger roles in this season, lives upto expectations. Not only is he a badass, he has guts to come face to face right with Jamie and Cersei and tell a thing or two on their faces. Needless to say, he would be the one inflicting considerable damage to the Danerys campaign and the one on their hitlist.
All that and a lot more! We saw some power packed stuff by Olenna Tyrell who made her mark as the Leader of House Tyrell. Probably the most entertaining of all, this singular episode would be known because of her. She was far more than good, Very Good! There are a few people on the show who can inflict verbal burns on others with impunity, Olenna, Tyrion and Euron being some of them. While all display this talent of their’s in this episode, Olenna did it with unmatched style. And guess who gets the award for maximum burn? None other than Jamie Lannistor. More than once, we see him seething and twitching his face in extreme anger but unable to do anything. While we see him succeeding militarily, a few very sharp things he was told by various people in the episode, would have far reaching consequences !
