While it started well with the new Bond Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, with a little low on action but a very strong humane side of the worlds most famous spy, it didn’t follow well in the less exciting Quantum of Solace. Then came Sam Mendes’s Skyfall and it turned the tide in favor of Bond and also earned Mendes another contract for the follow up.
The Skyfall took what is called in the nerd network a Nolanesque turn and took Bond back to his roots and made the whole story a personal affair. Looking at the trailer Spectre is taking the similar format and may be a notch higher taking the story towards the past of James Bond. What also makes the movie exciting is the presence of Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz as the main antagonist.
Also there is the new M, Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes) and it would be interesting to watch Bond work under his leadership.
It is impossible to miss the Bond girl in a Bond movie so this time around the role is being played by Léa Seydoux, a French actress, who also appeared in Inglorious Basterds, MI4: Ghost Protocol and Robin Hood.
The title tracks for Bond movies have been as special as the movie itself, and this time around the track ‘Writing’s on the wall’ is sung by the Grammy Award winner Sam Smith, here is a sneak peek of the song which is available on iTunes now.
Spectre is scheduled to be released on 26th October 2015.
