Weekend Guide | New Releases Round Up

This Friday is a crowded one and it gives you plenty of choices. The movie goers are going to get spoiled the weekend. Let us check out new releases to find out what options do we have.

Singh Is Bling


Akshay Kumar and Prabhudeva have teamed up again in an action-comedy movie Singh Is Bling. The duo earlier had collaborated in the blockbuster Rowdy Rathod. Prabhu Deva brought the south Indian flavor to Bollywood cinema and had a successful stint with Wanted, Rowdy Rathod and R..Rajkumar all doing superb business, but his last venture Action Jackson with Ajay Devgn didn’t work much. He is the master of masala movies and with Singh Is Bling he might be back in the business with Akshay by his side who is already riding high on the successful track this ear with Baby and Gabbar is Back.

The film also stars Amy Jackson, Lara Dutta and Kay Kay Menon. The Soundtrack of the movie which is primarily Punjabi dance songs have already made it to the top chartbusters and will definitely help the movie open well on a long weekend.




The Second movie that is releasing this Friday is Talwar, based on the infamous Arushi Murder case. This movie is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is produced by Vishal Bhardwaj who has also done the music for the film. With actor Irrfan and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead the movie is already has created a lot of buzz

The film has received accolades in the Toronto film festival this year and we are expecting an intense thriller from the director who is returning to the business after a long gap.

Trivia – Interestingly title of this movie doesn’t mean the surname of the girl murdered by the sword in the hands of the Figure of Justice





Puli in Tamil means Tiger and this movie is a fantasy action adventure of the lead character played by Vijay. Post Bahubali – The Beginning dubbed south Indian films have become a threat to the Hindi films and another source of entertainment for the northern cine-goers.

The film boasts of huge star case including Sridevi, Sudeep, Hansika, Shruti Hasan and Prabhu. The film also has amazing CGI effects which they are claiming to be better that Bahubali. The movie has music by Devi Sri Prasad and Natarajan Subramaniam. So with the ever increasing popularity of the South-Indian action dramas this might come up as winner this weekend.

The movie is also releasing in Telugu apart from Hindi and Tamil.


The Martian


The fourth movie this weekend is a sci-fi drama directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon. Matt Damon is a popular star around the world and in India and in this film he is playing the lead character of an astronaut who is presumed dead and is left on the red planet. It is an outstanding concept and with Scott taking the reign nothing could presumably go wrong.

The trailer of the film is extremely well made and it does make you watch the film right away.

With the latest new from NASA confirming water existing on Mars the buzz around the film has already increased.

The cast also includes Jessica Chastain, Sean Bean, Kate Mara and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
