Friday Preview | Detective Byomkesh Bakshy | Furious 7

Hello friends this is a new section where we will have a look at the upcoming releases every week and talk about their prospects on the weekend

So the first movie coming your way this Friday is DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSY, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, and starring Sushant Singh Rajput. The dark and intense trailer has already created a buzz around the movie. The USPs are as follows:

  1. The movie is produced by the biggest studio in Bollywood ‘YASH RAJ FILMS’.
  2. There is a dearth of detective/suspense movies in Bollywood and this might just be the right time for one.
  3. Byomkesh Bakshi is a very popular character among the 90s generation, whereas the new generation’s already watched the Cumberbatch’s take on Sherlock and this may interest them to have a desi equivalent.
  4. Dibakar Banerjee is not a masses director but has some acclaimed work to his credit. His versatility is second to none so this could be his big leap.
  5. Sushant is a competent actor and after his earnest cameo in PK it will be interesting to watch him as Byomkesh and there will be comparisons with other well-known actors in television (Rajit Kapoor) and Bengali Cinema (Abir Chatterjee). So this is a big film for this actor prior to bio pic on Dhoni.
  6. The music is truly what you don’t expect in a period film, especially in India. It is a first time that a complete hard rock, jazz music  is used so prominently in a main stream hindi movie.
  7. And lastly there is a prospective of sequels that might be done if the movie does well.

So, good luck to everyone involved with the movie. Please share your thoughts in the comments section.
The second movie to look out for this weekend will be Furious 7, with the boasting title and the seventh film on a movie franchise around Cars and Action. Dom and team are back for the last time as the tagline says, but rumor mill is already churning otherwise. Here are the highlights:

  1. This one is all about adrenaline rush and this time it is in 3D so the thrill could leap to another dimension.
  2. Jason Statham (Transporter fame) is joining this one as a villain. The Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Statham’s head on rumble is already buzzing the expectations.

  3. We lost the beloved Paul Walker last year and this is one movie which will be incomplete without him, some CGI was used to complete the scenes with Walker.

  4. Dom has to save his crew and you know that he won’t leave any stone unturned (read car un-flipped)

  5. The Director James Wan  is known for his horror flicks and he might raise the bar for the thrill quotient of the vehicular stunts.
  6. Lastly flying cars, nail biting stunts, and edge of the seat thrills are what we are looking for.

Hope this is not the end and as rumors suggest the next movie might be announced soon, nevertheless this last sequel thing might get even more crowd.
