The Front Runner is an upcoming American biographical dark comedy film directed by Jason Reitman, based on the 2014 book All the Truth Is Out: The Week Politics Went Tabloid, written by Matt Bai. Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with Bai and Jay Carson. The film chronicles the rise of American Senator Gary Hart, a Democratic presidential candidate in 1988, and his subsequent fall from grace when media reports surfaced of his extramarital affair. It stars an ensemble cast featuring Hugh Jackman as Hart, with Vera Farmiga, J. K. Simmons and Alfred Molina also starring.
The film will have its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in September 2018. It will be released on November 7, 2018, by Columbia Pictures.
